Track Day Cover For Kit Cars

Before you take your kit car on a track day you should make sure that your insurance policy covers you. Most insurance policies will not cover you as standard but if you speak to your Insurance Broker or Insurer, providing they are kit car specialists, they will normally be able to extend your policy to cover you. There may be a small additional premium to pay to obtain cover.
You will be asked a few questions before cover is given for example: Who is organising the Track day, is it your kit car club or a track day organiser? Is the event competitive? Is the event organised by a member of the Association of Track Day Organisers? How many vehicles will be on the track at any one time? Where is the track day, is it in the UK or abroad?

Don’t forget to ask what cover you are getting. Most Insurers only give accidental damage cover which means you are only covered for the damage to your kit car, there isn’t any third party or personal injury cover.

While you are taking part on a track day the excess will normally increase this is normally £1000 or 10% of the value of the kit car, again check with your broker.
